Dr. Chien was born in Taiwan and moved to Kansas at the age of 6. She spent her childhood in the Land of Oz and then went on to college and medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago. She and her husband Mark then headed west, where Dr. Chien completed her residency in OB/GYN at Los Angeles County - University of Southern California Medical Center in 2001. During this time, she became highly skilled in the treatment of an extremely broad range of medical conditions due to the high patient volume and the severity of illness among the patient population.

Before joining Women’s Care Medical Group, Dr. Chien practiced at Kaiser as well as at Palo Alto Medical Clinic. She has also served as volunteer clinical faculty, teaching residents at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Chien has a special interest in gynecologic surgery.  She was the first gynecologist to perform surgery using the daVinci robot at Sequoia Hospital and continues to be a champion of robotic surgery through her participation on the Sequoia Robotics Steering Committee.  Additionally, she has extensive expertise in other minimally invasive procedures such as vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopy, office-based hysteroscopy, Novasure endometrial ablation, and Essure incisionless sterilization.  She also appreciates the great privilege and joy it is to help patients bring their babies into the world.  She is board certified by the American Board of OB/GYN and is a fellow of the American College of OB/GYN.

Dr. Chien is fluent in conversational Mandarin and medical Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, watching movies with her husband, and playing at the neighborhood park with her daughter Emma.
