Dr. Rao was raised in the Bay Area. Her road to becoming a physician took her to UCLA for college, New York Medical College for public health and medical degrees and then to Stanford University for residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. While in residency, she received awards for excellence in patient care and received recognition for her skills in laparoscopic surgery.

Prior to joining Women’s Care Medical Group in 2009, Dr. Rao spent several great years in practice at Kaiser. She is thrilled to be a part of Women’s Care Medical Group and the Sequoia Hospital Birth Center. Dr. Rao has experience with high risk pregnancies, gestational diabetes and multiple gestations. She aims to provide her obstetric patients with comprehensive and empathic care. She wants every pregnancy and delivery to be a beautiful and meaningful experience.

Dr. Rao also specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (hysteroscopy, vaginal surgery and laparoscopy). She is trained in some of the latest gynecologic technologies such as: Essure sterilization, Adiana sterilization, laparoscopic hysterectomy, Novasure endometrial ablation and transobturator slings for urinary incontinence. Dr. Rao is available for evaluation and treatment of pelvic pain, infertility, female sexual medicine and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Dr. Rao is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She spends her free time with her husband, beautiful son and adorable dog - she loves to travel to exotic locations, try new restaurants and read novels. Dr. Rao believes she has the best job in the world and looks forward to meeting you!
